Applied Behavior Analysis Technician (ABAT®) Certification Course

The Applied Behavior Analysis Technician (ABAT®) Certification course provided by Early Autism Project Malaysia is a 40-hour course that meets the credential requirements of the Qualified Applied Behavior Analysis Board (QABA). EAP Malaysia is an approved Coursework Provider for this course.

The ABAT® certification course is intended for entry-level interventionists also known as direct-care instructional staff/ behavior technicians/ ABA therapists who work directly with individuals providing daily instruction and implementing behavior intervention plans within the scope of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and autism spectrum disorders (ASD).

To get the ABAT® certification, individuals must complete 40 hours of approved assessment-based coursework, meet the required supervised fieldwork and pass the proctored exam.

The minimum requirement to register for this course are:

  1. At least 18 years old
  2. Completed high school diploma (SPM equivalent for Malaysians)

Take note that the ABAT course provided by EAP Malaysia only fulfills the 40-hour coursework of the certification. Individuals who go through the ABAT course with EAP Malaysia will receive an e-certificate which will be required to register for the ABAT exam. Supervised fieldwork is only provided for EAP staff members.

By signing up for this course, you will get the opportunity to learn about autism, Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and ethical practice amongst other topics which intends to equip you on best practice of how to support individuals with autism. This course will also include special EAP Malaysia content with special guest presenters who have a combination of more than 50 years of experience!

This course is suitable for:

ABA therapists looking to upskill themselves in autism & ABA principles.

Parents who want to learn how to support their child with autism utilizing ABA principles.

Teachers/ Students/ Any professional in related fields intending to expand their knowledge in the field of autism and ABA principles.

This is an e-learning course that spans across 12 weeks, including 4 additional live tutorial zoom sessions for Q&A. Each module will be available on the e-learning portal on a weekly basis. You are highly encouraged to attend the live tutorial sessions to get the most out of the course, but post recording will be made available for those who are unable to attend live.

The course will also include compulsory assignments/ quizzes which will need to be completed before moving on to the next module.

RACHEL GOMEZ

Head of Clinical Development at EAP Malaysia

Rachel is the Head of Clinical Development at Early Autism Project Malaysia. She has a Master in Clinical Psychology from HELP University. Rachel is also a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA; 1-22-60304) and a registered Malaysian Allied Health Professional (MAHPC(CP)00467). At EAP Malaysia, Rachel is also a Senior Supervisor and provides clinical supervision to senior supervisors and supervisors and also leads the in-house supervisor training. Rachel also conducts diagnostic evaluations, developmental assessments and screening appointments. She also oversees the intake and onboarding of new clients at EAP Malaysia. Rachel has been with EAP since 2011.

KIM KNIPPEL
M.A. ABA, Board Certified and Licensed Behavior Analyst

Kim is a BCBA based in Wisconsin, USA. With about 13 years of experience in working with individuals with autism, and developing behavioural intervention plans to increase functional skills and reduce challenging behaviours in hundreds of children with autism. Kim has been supporting EAP in the past few years through reviewing our children’s progress, clinical consultations and training.

JOCHEBED ISAACS

Director & Founder at EAP Malaysia

Jochebed serves as Director at EAP Malaysia. She is also a Clinical Psychologist and a Senior Supervisor at EAP Malaysia. She completed her Master of Clinical Psychology at University Kebangsaan Malaysia. Jochebed was trained as a supervisor at the Wisconsin Early Autism Project, United States of America under the guidance of Dr. Glen Sallows, Ms. Tamylnn Graupner, and Ms. Michelle Sherman. She has worked with hundreds of children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder in Malaysia, Wisconsin Perth and Singapore. Jochebed has been with EAP since 2006.

CHAU YU CHEN
M.A. in Special Education
Head of Team at EAP Malaysia

Yu Chen is the Head of Team at Early Autism Project Malaysia. She has a Master in Special Education from Nottingham University. At EAP, Yu Chen provides clinical supervision to supervisors and also oversees the team from hiring to onboarding training and leadership development. Yu Chen is currently in the midst of pursuing the Qualified Behavior Analyst (QBA) certification by QABA. Yu Chen has been with EAP since 2016.
